OUR HISTORY

University of Exeter Russian Society

100+ MEMBERS!

Exeter University Russian Society was established in May 1957. At the beginning it was lead by some British enthusiasts who studied Russian language or were just interested in Russian culture. Throughout these years we have been building a strong and supportive society that has a lot to offer. It all started with the pure interest in Russian language and culture, but it became something more than that. Russian society is a great community where everyone can find something very special to them.

Russian Society is dedicated to providing fun and informative cultural events for all Exeter students to appreciate Russian culture. Throughout the academic year we hold regular socials and host big festivals.

Our annual socials include the Traditional Dinner, Halloween Party and more. We organise events to celebrate typical Russian holidays such as Maslenitsa, Defender of the Fatherland Day and Women's Day. For information about upcoming events, click here.

Besides having cultural events, Russian Society offers sports and educational activities. We have formed our own football team and will be organising a number of matches and tournaments throughout the year. For those interested in learning the language, we are offering Russian lessons at different levels!

Russian Society provides the best platform for Anglo-Russian interaction in the city of Exeter. We also help integrate Russian and Eastern European individuals with home students and the international community. Our society has a good mix of nationalities among its members. In 2016 we were joined by students from Russia, Ukraine, Kasakhstan, China, Cyprus, Arabic speaking countries and many more. This means that you won't be alone on our social and will definitely find friends.

We are waiting for you to join our society and experience all the above with us! If you have any suggestions, have an interest in Russian culture and want to meet us just contact us now!
